Free Culture Birmingham is in the very early stages of planning but is most likely to start as a "Free Culture Society" at the University of Birmingham.

Group Name
Suggested so far:
- Free Culture Birmingham
- (University of Birmingham) Free Culture Society
Please comment and suggest alternatives.
Group Members
The group should be open to all kinds of people ranging from those interested in the politics and law of copyright, artists in the broadest sense interested in a participatory, open culture and those interested in the technology which makes such a culture possible.
The group will most likely start as a university society which may initially limit the membership to members of the University.
Meetings
The group should meet regularly, ideally once a week in at least a social way. The meetings can include talks and discussions as well as attendance at cultural events to promote the cause and groups of artists can callaborate on projects.
Web Site
I propose setting up a web site using the Drupal Content Management System. The site could include the following features to start off with:
- Blogs/blogroll
- Mailing list/forum
- Articles
- News Stories
- Links
- Events List
Web Hosting Options
- BUGS provide a dedicated server to University Society web sites which will be ideal providing it meets the necessary technical requirements
Twisted Lemon may be willing to host the web site (BenFrancis works for the company)
